All Ultras have highly advanced and evolved minds granting them several mental abilities that humans barely understand the mechanics of. Ultras are not alone in possessing these abilities as many alien species and some monsters possess similar abilities, some have of which have displayed such potency with these powers that are greater than anything demonstrated by all but the most powerful of Ultras.

Telepathy:

All Ultras have telepathy, allowing them communicate with others over vast distances, even between galaxies such as the Milky Way and M78. Telepathy is not an Ultra specific ability, many alien species have shown the ability to use telepathy.

Telekinesis:

Although each Ultra can use telepathy, not all can use telekinesis. It is an ability that requires training, however once mastered it is a powerful asset in battle for the Ultra. Like Telepathy, this is also not an Ultra restricted ability with several alien species having this ability; some demonstrated mental strength greater than Ultra exhibitions of this ability.

Teleportation:

Some Ultras are able to instantly travel across great distances using teleportation. The trade-off for using this ability is a massive energy drain that leaves an Ultra weakened. In recent years, Ultras such as Ginga have shown the ability to teleport without a noticeable energy drain. This implies that the extent of this side-effect depends on the distance traveled and the user's skill.

Clairvoyance:

Another use of mental abilities is the ability to gather visual and audio information about the surrounding area without the use of the conventional senses, even seeing past solid objects. This is not an ability that has been shown in excess like the other two abilities. The only two known users of this skill are Dan Moroboshi and Mirai Hibino, the human identities of Ultraseven and Ultraman Mebius. In the case of Dan, his eyes flash or glow when he uses this ability.

Light Metamorphic Abilities:

While not directly mental abilities, this ability is linked to an Ultra's mental prowess. Ultras, as beings of light, can control light particles the ultimate expression of this ability it to make constructs and special rays and/or energy fields based on light for various purposes. Examples of this are Ultraman Tiga's Cell Change beams, which turned a monster into a harmless normal sized animal, Ultraman Cosmos' Luna Extract, a beam that calms monsters and cures them of the Chaos Header Virus.

Every Ultra has the potential for this ability, the most common form are the Ultra Signs they use to communicate. The only limit is an Ultra's skill and experience, however Blue Ultras are more attuned with their mental abilities and therefore are more likely to master this ability. E.g. Ultraman Cosmos has the most, non-combat light techniques known. Some Ultras can also use their light powers in human form, Yullian fired a beam in human form, and Mebius erected a barrier. The Deunamist (Hosts of Ultraman Nexus) could also erect barriers and fire energy blasts.

Physical Augmentation:

It has been stated that the original Ultraman could use his psychic powers to augment his physical strength and durability. How often he has used this is unknown but it may explain his unique resistance to electricity. It has also been stated he used it to improve his resistance to acid. So far no other Ultra has been noted to use this form of psychic powers. Unlike most Ultra powers, an Ultra still retains their mental abilities when in human form, a prime example of this is Dan Moroboshi, the human persona of Ultraseven.

Abilities:

Ultra Beam : The majority of Ultras are able to fire an Ultra Beam from hands crossed in a T, L or even X style. This beam can also be fired in ways such as an outstretched hand or from a jewel on an Ultra's forehead. A basic Ultra Beam is powerful enough to destroy the average monster in one shot.
- Light Bullets : A lesser form of their beam abilities, Ultras are able to fire small bursts of energy at a target. This technique is also known as Energy Bullets and Energy Blasts.
Endurance : Ultras are considerably more durable than human beings. They have shown resistance to lasers, Ultra Beams, lasers, fire, and high temperatures. Showa Ultras have a weakness to cold temperatures.
Size Alteration : Ultras are able to change their physical size from microscopic to giant.
Flight : All Ultras have the ability to fly. They have also been known to fly interstellar and even intergalactic distances. Profiles on Ultras have stated that organs in their legs generate anti-gravity waves that allow them to fly.
Travel Sphere : Ultras are known for traversing space in the form of spheres of light, usually red or yellow in color.
- Digitization : In Ultraman X, the titular character explained that he transforms himself into data when flying about in his travel sphere, implying that all Ultra do this. Several other Ultras have shown the ability to transform themselves into data.
Ultra Sign : A form of long distance communication between Ultras. Ultra Signs appear in the sky or space as a series of characters created from light. Usually only other Ultras can see them, with humans being unable to.
Ultra Twinkle Way : Ultras can create wormholes to quickly travel the vast distances of space.

Status : A natural ability.

Ultras have the power to merge with humans. These chosen individuals are then able to transform into their Ultra counterpart, generally through the use of a special item, most commonly referred to as a "transformation item". This is required due to the fact that Ultras in many continuities cannot survive long in Earth's atmosphere. However, this is not the only option open to the Ultras; like many Alien races in the series, they can take on human forms. Their methods of transforming back into their true forms are generally the same as those Ultras who have Human Hosts, but there are some instances which bring this into question. In the Ultraman Story 0 manga series, all Ultras are born with their own human forms. Human Hosts and Ultras in Human form have certain traits that separate them from normal humans.

Host Traits:

Resurrection : Several times the host of an Ultra was a human who was recently killed or was dying. Generally the means of the human's death, usually heroic, is the reason the Ultra merges with the human. This act restores the individual to life.
Transformation : As previously stated, the host can transform into their Ultra counterpart, but generally, injuries do not seem to be shared between them unless the Ultra transforms back because he or she went over his or her time limit. In the case of Ultraman Max, his host was used to infect him with a disease that would normally have had no effect on his biology.
Special Immunities : The presence of the Ultra often gives the human special resistance to certain illnesses or bio-weapons.
Ultra Sign Reading : Ultra Hosts could see and thus read Ultra Signs, due to the presence of an Ultra in their bodies.

Form Traits:

Sturdy bodies : Ultras in human form have bodies similar to the bearers of the Ultraman Factor in the 2011 manga.
Super-Human Senses : Dan Moroboshi could see through objects using the same power he used in his Ultra Form of Ultraseven. Mirai could see vast distances, even into space, and he could telepathically communicate with his other Ultra brothers. Both, and other Ultras in human form, had impressive reflexes, even into old age.
Mental Abilities : Ultras in human form still had the mental abilities of their true forms; this included telepathy for all, telekinesis/psychokinesis for the trained, and remote viewing.
Ultra Sign Reading : Like all Ultras, Ultras in human form can still read Ultra signs.
